To eat or not to eat?

What to snack on when your hungry? I usually try to go for something healthy... one of my favorite snacks is baby carrots. I have heard a lot of different stories about them lately. Are they good for you or bad?  One weekend when I was home I was talking to my trainer at the gym and she said not to eat them. She gave me this website to check out and read more about them. http://www.snopes.com/food/tainted/carrots.asp
It got me thinking differently.. and I try not to eat them any more. And it was one of my favorite snacks! :( I hope this doesn't make you not eat them anymore.. Just trying to watch out for everyones health... I have heard a lot of different things and I wanted to make sure if I was right or wrong.

Tips for a 5k race

This past weekend I ran in a race that was a 5k in my town. It was a fundraiser sponsored by the Calmer Choice, a nonprofit organization at grass roots level as a result of increased drug addiction, recent suicides and the difficulty of children and to manage their emotions. The last time that I ran a 5k was 2 years ago. I am not much of a runner but I wish I prepared more. If you deal with asthma like me, then you know how difficult it can be to run for a certain amount of time. If you do have it-- remember to bring your inhaler while you run.. it will help a lot!! But if you are thinking about running in a 5k in the future prepare yourself before you do it! Tips from http://www.fitfaq.com/first-5k-article.html can help you a lot. A couple weeks before you are running the race, make sure you get in shape for it or you are just hurting your body putting it through something that it can't do. If you have never ran before, start by running and then walking either in the gym or outside. Then add on more running as the weeks go by. You will feel more confident during the race if you KNOW you can run the whole race before you even start because you know you have been practicing. Good Luck if you decide to run in future races..and be sure to prepare yourself before!!!

Manage your headaches

Stressed out? Finding yourself with your head throbbing? Usually stress can trigger headaches but since I had them almost every day my senior year of high school I got different reasons why I get them and why they don't go away. Senior year was very stressful and that is one of the main reasons why I got headaches. Also, I have to have coffee everyday. And when I didn't have my coffee... I would find my self trying to sleep or in a room with no lights because my head would hurt so bad. If you think that is why you are getting headaches try for a couple of days not to have coffee and then slowly day by day your headaches will go away. If you wanted to look more into this because you are dealing with headaches daily or even sometimes check out this website that tells you a lot. Manage your headaches! I went to a doctor to see what was wrong with me since I got headaches everyday.  He told me to cut back on the caffeine! Ever since senior year was over and I knew what college I was going too.. the headaches were gone! I only get them once in a while if I am stressed out about college work ;)
