What to snack on when your hungry? I usually try to go for something healthy... one of my favorite snacks is baby carrots. I have heard a lot of different stories about them lately. Are they good for you or bad? One weekend when I was home I was talking to my trainer at the gym and she said not to eat them. She gave me this website to check out and read more about them.

It got me thinking differently.. and I try not to eat them any more. And it was one of my favorite snacks! :( I hope this doesn't make you not eat them anymore.. Just trying to watch out for everyones health... I have heard a lot of different things and I wanted to make sure if I was right or wrong.
Ahhh this is terrible! I also am a fan of baby carrots, I actually had some today. It's an easy way to get vegetables into my diet because they are quick & easy. Now, I am definitly going to have to do more research into this because I am disappointed to hear but surprised that I had never heard before! It definitly makes sense that they would be soaked in chlorine, but it seems as though organic baby carrots, which I usually have, would be healty & good for you.
ReplyDeleteThis is so disappointing to hear!! Baby Carrots were one of my favorite snacks and I thought I was being healthy by eating them! Reading this blog really turned me off from the idea and I will probably not eat them very often anymore! Learning that a food is soaked in the same chlorine that we put in our swimming pools can not be very good for you and I wonder why more people don’t know about this. The article you gave came from a blog which can be published by anyone so I am definitely going to do some more research on this subject before I swear off baby carrots forever but if this is for sure a true fact I am going to be very upset and have to find a new healthy snack1
ReplyDeleteThis was shocking to hear. My mom always said that carrots are good for your eye sight and I have terrible eye sight so I would always eat them. I can't believe there's chlorine on them. Just another food with chemicals all over it is just what I need! Thanks for the facts.
ReplyDeleteI hear that carrots were high in sugar but the new information on the processing is quite perplexing. Is there anything we can eat without having to worry. I guess even if we grow our own our soil could be contaminated or the water we clean our produce with could be unsafe? Wow. I guess we must think a bit more than we thought.
ReplyDeleteI definitely found this as a shock and I have eaten baby carrots as what I thought to be a healthy snack for a very long time. I looked in the refridgerator and sure enough, the carrots have a white film on the outside.
ReplyDeleteIf you eat organic baby carrots you should be ok. I just ordered some from peapod in stop and shop's natural store brand, Nature's Promise. Chlorine would not be within the USDA standards for organic.
